Bee Keeping

On Friday a bunch of bees were flying around with the queen bee. The queen bee lays an egg so the queen bee can go to another hive. The queen bee takes a crew of bees to follow her around. Terry had to try to put the queen bee in the hive if he couldn't get the queen bee in the hive then it will make a big mess and trouble. The bee suits protect us because if you get stung it will hurt a bit.

Tigers

 

Classicfication :
A tiger is a mammal, it is the same as warm blooded.

Descripiton :
Tigers are very fierce and scary. They have different colours on its back. It's claws are very similar to a cat.

Habbit :
Some tigers live in jungles, China, Africa and Asia.

Movement:
They use their four legs and they use their limbs to help.


Diet: 
Tigers are a meat eaters. Tigers like to eat beef, fish, they are carnivores.  

Other  Intersting facts Tigers are the same as a little cat. Tigers and cats are part of the same family.

Honey bees

Bees are insects.Many insects have three body parts and sixs legs. There are different kinds of bees  that make lots of honey, they are called honey bees. Bees make honey from necter to eat. Pollen is a yellow powder inside flowers. The honey bees put the pollen in little bags on their legs. The Bees take the pollen back to their nest. They give pollen to the baby bees to eat too. Beekeepers wear special clothes so the bees don't sting them.

The computer Bee In Science

 In science Mr Pattison showed us how to use the robot bee. It can only go three meters. Mr Pattison told us how to use the buttons. 

This was showing us how a computer is programmed. Like what we have been doing with scratch. 

When we finished playing around with it he gave us an iPad, he told us that we had to buddy up with room 5.

Life Jackets

At swimming we were learning about how to stay safe at sea and what to do if we fall in the water. We were practising what to do wearing a life jacket. Make sure you stay in a group so you can stay warm. What else can you do to keep safe in the water?

Facts about Bees

Bees help humans when you don't feel well. They help you by drinking tea or warm lemon mixed with water and honey. The bees get their honey from the nectar. Bees have a stinger that sits on there bottom. They sting humans when you try and shoo them away.

Jam Bus

At the end of last term the jam bus came to record us singing. Most of Room 12 was away. Papehia was going to be singing a solo but he was away so Villami had to take over for him. We had to quickly change our groups but luckily we did a very good job. We sung Sweetly Sings the Donkey. We even got a CD that we could keep that had every classes songs on it.

Soccer

Room 12 had two teachers who were  coaching us for soccer. They were teaching us the five ways you could dribble the ball with the parts of your feet. They said it was the top, the bottom, the outside and inside of your feet and ankle. The coaches names were Coach Mika and Coach C.

Welcome back to Term 2

Senior Assembly

This afternoon we had our senior assembly. Room 17 shared some poems, sung some songs in Maori and did a cool dance. At the end they had a quiz and the kids could win Easter eggs. The teachers had a question too and Kryzlah helped Miss Zeier win an Easter egg! After it was finished they gave out the class cup and the winners were... Room 12!!!

The Sandpit

We have a new sandpit at school. All of the classes got a turn at playing in the sandpit. If you chuck sand at others that means your class is going to miss a turn. Our class was so good we got another turn. We were putting our legs under the sand to pretend we were mermaids. We were building sandcastles as well.

The Dinosaurs At Dawson

My Friends and I heard noises outside.  It was a huge dinosaur in the middle of the car park. We heard the dinosaurs stamping. The dinosaurs were chasing us and I was so scared. All of my friends were so terrified they ran away. We were all running away from it because it was so humungous. We were playing hide and go seek through the school but we didn't want the dinosaur to find us. This dinosaur came and nearly ate us. Luckily we escaped!

The Awesome Chicks.

On Tuesday we went to science. In science class we got to look after the smelly chicks. They were as fast as a flash, their beaks were as sharp as a knife, they were so naughty that we thought nobody could handle them. Luckily we could hold them. Their skin was so fluffy. We were taking pictures of the chicks, tadpoles and worms. Mr Pattison asked us questions about the chicks and the worms.

Amazing Bird Art

Room 12 have been working hard on our bird pictures. We practised on scrap paper, then we copied it on to cardboard. Then we outlined our birds with vivid. We drew the outline on to coloured paper and newspaper.  We used paint and string to make power lines for the background and we dyed the paper blue and yellow.

Fantastic Science

Room12 went to science class. We learnt about Scratch. On Scratch there are cartoon pictures and we went on google and dragged pictures onto the desktop. We made the pictures our background. Wait till you see our finished projects!

STAR Tests

Today we started our star tests. We had to fill out the blank spaces with the words that make sense. We had to circle the words that matched the picture. We cant wait till we get our score.

Book Parade

Today was the last day of Literacy Week. Lots of kids were dressed up as book characters. One person was dressed up as Willy Wonka and another one was Bob the Builder. There were heaps of different characters from books and movies. Even the teachers were dressed up and they were dancing to Gangnam Style. All the kids were dancing in the parade Look at the people from our cool class!
