Kiwi Kick

On Friday we did AFL Kiwikick. AFL means Australian Football League. We learned how to drop punt the ball to our partner our leaders were James, Jamie, Jono and Nick. Room11 joined us too. We learnt 4 steps. 1. Laces away from faces. 2. Drop the ball to your foot. 3. X's up and down. 4. Pointy toes facing towards your partner.

My Holidays

In the holidays I played tag with my family. I was in the yellow team. We versed the blue team. My dad was in the blue team. We played at the Othello Park. I scored two tries. I did a runaway try. I stepped my dad and my cousin. I did a line break. I went through my mum and dad. What did you do?

Cooking and Gardening

On Wednesday we did cooking and gardening. I was on gardening. It is hard work gardening. We needed gloves to keep our hands clean. Me and Orlando had to dig up the soil and turned it around. We saw lots of worms.

Talent Quest

On September the 18th there is a talent quest at Dawson Primary where kids can sing or dance. It is going to be awesome. There will be a special prize. Most of the people are busy practising.

Origami crane

This term we are doing oragami for our art extention. It is going to be awesome!!! We are all doing different designs. Most of them are colourful like a rainbow. They all look amazing. I am doing mine on canvas. I painted the backround bright mattalic. I love making origami.

The Scorpion

Scorpions

Classification
The scorpion is an arachnid like a spider. Arachnida all have eight legs. 

Physical Description

A scorpion is a creature  that has a long tail with a poisionous stinger. The scorpion has four legs on each side. Some scorpions are hairy and some are not.

Habitat

The rock scorpion lives in Southern America. It hides in the cracks between the rocks. All scorpions are found in all major land masses exept Antartica.

Movement 

Scorpions crawl on eight legs. They crawl fast like spiders.

Diet

They eat insects like praying mantis. They also eat small mammals.

Other Interesting facts
Scorpions have stung and killed their predators for more then 400 years. Venom is squeezed out of the stinger.

Soccer

This is us practising evading with the soccer coaches in the hall. We had to try and lose our partner and they had to follow you and stay as close as they can.

Life Jackets

At swimming we were learning about how to stay safe at sea and what to do if we fall in the water. We were practising what to do wearing a life jacket. Make sure you stay in a group so you can stay warm. What else can you do to keep safe in the water?

Polar Bears

Did you know a polar bear can keep warm in low tempertures because it has layers of fat called blubber and they have two layers of fur. Polar bears are carnivores. Polar bears mostly eat fish and are excellent at swimming. Polar bears don't have any predators because they are not any ones prey. The reason I've picked to talk about polar bears is because I haven't studied bears and today I was reading about bears. I hope you learnt a lot of things about bears like me.

James and the Giant Peach

Every afternoon we read our chapter book James and the Giant Peach. In the story the characters names are Aunt Spiker, Aunt Sponge and the main character is James . 

We've been reading about  how the peach got bigger and bigger, and we've been reading about how Aunt Spiker and Aunt Sponge keep on calling James bad things like filthy, nuisance, miserable creature and disgusting little beast. They are as horrible as a troll and as a cruel as a nasty creature.

Term 2

This term is Term 2. We have now got four new people in our classroom. We had Scott and Tavita arrive from different schools. They are both very nice. They are different sizes but they are the same age. Scott is 8 and so is Tavita.      

Last week we had Curtis and Tevita join our class from Room 10. So now we have 2 children with the same name. We are going to call them Tavita T and Tevita E so they know which one we are talking to. 
All four new kids are boys. Welcome boys!

Safety Around Beaches

At the beach do not go too far away from an adult. Be careful of smooth water between waves because something BAD might happen to you. You might get pulled in to a rip. If you get in a rip, don't try to swim back because you will be tired and be going nowhere. So instead follow the waves and try get to the side. Always swim between the flags.

Soccer

Kryzlah

On Monday we played soccer in the hall. It was AMAZING. We had coaches. Their names were Coach Mika and Coach C. First the people with the bibs had to run around and be the truck. The other person, the trailer had to keep up with them. The next go they made it harder by putting a soccer ball in the game. Then they made it  EXTREMELY hard because the trailers were allowed to steal the ball. After that we were passing the ball. That was TERRIFIC. I cant wait to do soccer again.
